As a true Amazonian, raising the bar on throughput and customer obsession, Shivani has worked to establish and improve various systems (process X people X tools X geo-locations) at Lab126 allowing Ops and Engineering teams to move rapidly and efficiently with product development and launch!</p><p><b>Abstract:</b></p><p>Ever wondered who designs the super cool packaging for Amazon’s super cool digital products? For all of Amazon’s Kindle E-readers, Fire Tablets, Dash buttons, the Fire TV and the hot hot Echo Products&nbsp;<b>(Echo, Dot, Tap, Show)</b>? Who has an Alexa in their lives?? – Raise your hands!! Yeah! Go Alexa! Go Amazon J</p><p>Collectively a team of packaging engineers, Industrial Design program managers, Marketing, Product management and me-likes in the Retail Engineering Program management get together to design the package (structure, artwork and in-box inserts) right here in the Bay Area! These packages are often localized for launch in different parts of the world! Prototyping is often done locally too; Mass production is out of China! I will talk in brief and at a high level how we all collaborate to arrive at the final paper package that holds our awesome products!</p><p><b>&nbsp;Bio:</b></p><p>Shivani Goel graduated in 1996 with a BSEE degree (focus in Electronics and Communications Engineering) from Jodhpur University, India.</p><p>She started her career in chip design working with LSI Logic and NEC Electronics in Santa Clara. In 2008 she went on to earn her MBA from San Jose State in 2008 and since then has been in engineering program management. She joined Amazon Lab126 in 2012 in the Operational Excellence team and now is a Senior Retail EPM in the Hardware org. She and her larger team of Retail EPMs, manage packaging programs (schedule and course of development for outer/inner PKG, in-box inserts, retail in-store demos and artwork strategy for various SKUs) for all of Lab126’s digital products! Our most recent launches have been the entire suite of Echo products out there – you name it: Echo, Echo Dot, Tap, Show, and Look!</p>
